Optimized Learning for Every Scholar
Plum Canyon Elementary School is dedicated to academic excellence. It has been recognized as a California Distinguished, a California Gold Ribbon, and a Silver Award-Winning PBIS school. Our teachers, staff, and parents partner to create a scholarly environment that provides each student the opportunity to excel in their learning. At Plum Canyon, we recognize that each scholar is unique, and we provide opportunities to bring out the best in them. Beyond the core academic subjects, our scholars participate in the arts and music for an overall enriching experience at Plum Canyon.
High Parent Involvement
Plum Canyon has an involved parent community. It is commonplace to see parent volunteers on campus every day, either assisting students in the classroom or helping prepare materials for teachers in the workroom. Our school community truly has a “We’re in this together!” attitude, and it results in a close-knit, family-like atmosphere that is a pleasure to be a part of. In addition, our active parent community works through the PTA to support various programs that benefit our scholars.
Passionate Teachers Focus on Learning
Plum Canyon teachers and staff are dedicated and compassionate professionals who accentuate the strengths of our scholars. Working as a team, they provide instruction with an unprecedented focus on learning.
It really says something when our teachers and staff trust us enough to bring their own children to attend school here at Plum. Mrs. Loring, a founding teacher and parent of a former student, put it this way: “I chose to send both of my children to Plum because I trusted the school to do the best for them. I have never regretted bringing them with me. My daughter discovered her love of theater in the fourth-grade presentation of Gold Dust or Bust. She is a playwright and performer today. My son made many friends that he still has from Plum Canyon.”
Our Scholars Have PRIDE
Plum Canyon scholars meet behavior expectations with PRIDE (Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Excellence). We follow the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) principles in supporting all scholars to be their best. We explicitly teach and intentionally support behavior expectations. For the last three years in a row, we have been recognized as a Silver Award-Winning PBIS School.
